About Guangzhou
Guangzhou is the southern gateway to China, and the political, economic and cultural center in the south of China as well as the seat of the provincial government of Guangdong. Being in a subtropical weather belt with the Tropic of Cancer crossing it, Guangzhou enjoys mild climate and rich rainfall. As a result, its landscape is evergreen, thus the name of the “Flower City”. Now the city has a total area of 7,434 square kilometers and a population of over 10 million.
Guangzhou is a famous cultural city with a history as long as 2,222 years. Its construction has ever been improving so that its comprehensive economic strength has leaped to the third place in the cities of the country. Guangzhou, adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau, has a rather developed network of railways (including underground), highways, shipping lines, airlines, post and telecommunication. The city is a hub of communication and trade port in South China. It has long been known as the starting place the 'Silk Road’ of the Sea.
